Manufacturing

We weld, sand, cut, sew, upholster, paint and fabricate

Rather than outsource manufacturing and face the inevitable compromises of oversight and agility that entails, we’ve continued to invest in highly capable and adaptable production technology. Trusting everything to our own skilled people and keeping our own technology cutting edge is The Senator Group's secret to quality.

Our products require many processes and human skills, from plywood forming to upholstery, injection moulding to CNC machining. So, we think it’s best for people to handle certain aspects of production – applying their artisan skills and making continual quality judgements.

Handcraft is crucial, particularly in terms of upholstery and detailed finishing. These are the oh-so-important visible and tactile aspects of quality that demand skilled hand and eye.

With manufacturing sites in the UK, North America and Asia, we can produce unique designs at scale, around the globe, 24/7

We have the capacity to manufacture over 34,000 items of furniture per week from our seven manufacturing sites, and our in-house maintenance teams ensure our production processes keep operating 24-7.

Our sites are strategically positioned across Europe, The Americas and Asia, helping us to remain agile in a complex world. As freight costs surge, tax imports remain uncertain and carbon reduction plans are enforced, taking a local approach, while maintaining a global view, makes sense.

We continue with our £6million ‘Industry 4.0’ investment to automate our factories

The Senator Group is a technology led manufacturer with good reason. The fact is that accuracy quality and efficiency are best served through automated digital precision.

A key initiative has been Energy Management as a Service (EMaaS), fitting smart sensors to key machinery to analyse energy use data. Through this, we have provided new processes and training, having a real impact on our emissions, saving an average of 7% in energy consumption across the group.

Microsoft D365 continues to launch across our business, and we use D365 resource planning software to effectively manage our ordering and production activities. This has provided absolute clarity of information, reducing errors, improving efficiency and increase business productivity.

Reducing our impacts

The climate and biodiversity crises are urgent issues we must tackle head on, together. We take our responsibility seriously, understanding our actions now will define the future of generations to come. From the biomass boiler that heats our head office, to the solar panels that span our roofs, and our bee yards, we continually look for new environmental initiatives to embrace.

We don’t just manufacture, we remanufacture

There is nobody more qualified to remanufacture The Senator Group’s furniture, than we are.

Through re:work, we offer a furniture remanufacturing service that aims to retain and restore as much of a product’s original value as possible. It differs from refurbishment in that its durability is backed by a warranty. Designed to decrease resource consumption and environmental impact, we welcome furniture that was originally manufactured by The Senator Group, restoring it back to as-close-to-new condition as possible. Better for the planet, choosing to remanufacture existing furniture has less carbon impact on a business.
